The Island of Guimaras is just a 15-minute boat ride from the City of Iloilo hence it is not surprising if many newlyweds head there for their honeymoon. With the island’s beautiful beaches teeming with marine life in addition to its peaceful ambiance, surely there is no reason for lovebirds to doubt whether or not they would enjoy their stay there. A trip there is not as expensive or tiring as compared to going to Boracay in which you have to endure approximately five hours land travel. Additionally, the island is not as highly commercialized as the mentioned world famous Philippine beauty.
While there are indeed so many beach resorts in Guimaras, not all are honeymoon-worthy. The likes of Raymen are too crowded for couples to unwind after months of planning and organizing the often stressful event of a lifetime. Below is IWN’s top five resort in Guimaras perfect for couples.
Nature’s Eye Resort. The place is as private as it can get. Proof is the wall-less toilet/bathrooms of the cottages. The resort has only like four or five cottages thus the need to reserve before you go there. Sometimes, you have the resort all to yourself as the owner prefers to accommodate guests or group of guests one at a time to prevent possible conflict and also so that they can accommodate their guests well. And even if there are others guests around, your privacy will never be compromised as the cottages are a bit far from each other. The resort doesn’t have a restaurant but you can contact the management to prepare foods for you throughout your stay there.

The resort is the number one choice bit it is not without flaws. One problem here is that the area near the shore is a bit stony (or was that corals?). Wearing slippers (or swim shoes) is recommended to prevent injuries or you can look for sandy areas and stay to that area alone which is not quite fun at all. Getting there can be less than glamorous since you will have to go through rough roads and you have to walk a few meters to get to the resort itself. Again, it is highly recommended to place your booking before going there and you better ask them to pick you up at the wharf or a town near the resort because commuting can be tricky.
Despite the drawbacks, Nature’s Eye is too beautiful thus on the first spot.
For reservation or inquiries, contact Nature’s Eye Facebook page.
Cabaling Beach Resort. Like with Nature’s Eye, the area near the shore is not perfect for frolicking in the water and chasing games ala White Castle whiskey advertisement because of the corals but you can always head to their infinity pool if you really want to lounge in the water till the sun sets. But then again, who wants a pool when you have that tempting blue green water in front of you? You simply have to bring your swim shoes for that extra comfort and protection.
Apart from cottages, Cabaling Beach Resort has a hotel-type building to accommodate their guests. They also have a restaurant so food is not a problem.

Getting to Cabaling is easier than getting to Nature’s Eye. There are less rough roads although you still have to walk for like 10 minutes to get to the resort compound. Check out Cabaling Beach Resort Facebook page for more info.
Kenyama Beach Resort. Like the first two resorts, the shallow area of Kenyama has stones and corals but you can ask the staff to guide you to a sandy area. That area, not too far away from the resort’s building, is located along coves and it really is beautiful there. You can have a mermaid-like photo shoot in the stones in that area. Additionally, the resort is walking distance away from the historical lighthouse (which is also near a new lighthouse) so you can have a side trip there.

Kenyama’s website is in Japanese but at least, contact numbers from there.
Villa Igang. The beach in Villa Igang is perfect! You can walk in the sand barefoot and when it’s low tide, you will likely find lots of starfish there. There is also a cove you can access during low tide, there is a diving point on the other side and there is another diving point in the upper portion which they recently developed. They also have two pools (only one is open as the other needs to undergo repair), a camping and camp fire area, restaurant and a stage (probably for performances or weddings). They also have various types of accommodations; from a fan room for two or three to air-conditioned room for 10 and everything in between. You will also pass by a mini butterfly garden and mangrove plantation before getting to the resort.
Villa Igang is a bit crowded compared to the first three resorts but the beach is just too lovely not to include in the list. You can contact Villa Igang through their Facebook page here.

La Puerta El Paraiso. Among the five resorts, this is the only resort the writer has not visited thus the fifth spot. However, based on friend’s pictures and reviews on trip advisor, the resort is also a great escape for honeymooners as it is private and a bit hard to get to. They also have a restaurant so food is not a problem.
For couples who want some fun and adventure, you can drop by Camp Alfredo for zip line and rope walking as well as another adventure park for paintball experience. You can also drop by Trappist Monastery for a moment of silence with the Lord.
